Thomas Day
Founder, Weekend Warriors of New England

I’m a Rhode Island native and I served as a 62J General Equipment Operator and 12B Combat Engineer in the Rhode Island National Guard from November 2001 through July 2007. We deployed to Iraq from 2005 – 2006 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Like many veterans, I struggled with the transition after service. Over time, I found that being in nature and creating art helped me slow down, reconnect, and begin my own recovery. Those experiences made a real difference in my life, and I wanted to create opportunities for other  veterans to experience the same thing.

Weekend Warriors of New England grew from that idea and created     spaces where veterans can spend time outdoors, try creative activities, learn new hobbies, and connect to others who understand military life.

This organization exists because connection, nature, and creativity helped me and I believe they can help others too.
